Scholarships

2026 Annual Scholarship Information

The Farmers National Bank Scholarship rewards one senior from each of the Prophetstown, Geneseo, West Carroll and Morrison School Districts a $1,000 scholarship for higher education.

Scholarship rules:

  • Submit a one-page essay, double spaced in Times New Roman font and 10–12-point font size on the following topic:

Describe a positive banking experience you or your family has had, and explain why it mattered?

  • Essay is due to the FNB office in your respective school district by April 10, 2026
  • Complete the student application and submit with the essay
  • Essay must be written entirely by the student
  • All copyrighted materials must be properly cited/attributed
  • Students must be high school seniors in either Prophetstown, Geneseo, West Carroll or Morrison School District on track to graduate in the Spring of 2026
  • Student must be entering an accredited college, university or trade school in the Fall of 2026
  • Students must be able to provide an acceptance document from an accredited college, university or trade school
  • Students may not submit an essay through more than one FNB office
  • Immediate family members of FNB employees and directors are NOT eligible to enter

Judging Criteria:

  • Response is related to the question
  • Clear and concise sentences
  • Logical organization
  • Proper grammar
  • Correct punctuation and spelling

 

Selection Process

  • Winners will be selected by a panel of judges selected by FNB Management
  • Winners will be notified by the end of April unless their school has a scholarship awards night; they will be notified then.

 

Payment of Scholarship

  • Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the accredited college, university or trade school where the student has been accepted
  • Under no circumstances will the funds be paid directly to the student
  • Use of the scholarship funds cannot be postponed
