For the second year in a row, FNB has donated 200 reusable bags to the Odell Public Library in Morrison for their annual book sale. The Library was very thankful for the donation. FNB employees have the option to wear jeans to work on Saturdays by donating to local organizations. Donated items will be distributed to the local organizations throughout the year on a quarterly basis. The second quarter Morrison Office donations goes to the Morrison Food Pantry. On Friday, August 31, 2018, FNB held their second annual Grab & Go Customer Appreciation Lunch. Each office served 350 – 400 patrons. The free lunch included a sandwich, chips, cookie and a water in an insulated FNB lunch bag.
On August 23, 2018, FNB’s Morrison Office donated 100 ear buds to the Morrison Junior High School for student’s use throughout the school year. Pictured here are Mrs. Wiersema, school counselor, Kaiser, the school’s therapy dog, and FNB employee, Angie Erickson.
FNB proudly sponsored United Way’s Power of the Purse Fundraiser on September 27, 2018. This event raises funds for the L.I.F.E. (Literacy is Fun for Everyone) program which provides books at no cost to every child from newborn to age 5 in Whiteside County. On August 15, 2018, FNB sponsored the entertainment stage at the Whiteside County Fair in Morrison. Hand held fans and free ice cream coupons were handed out to all fairgoers attending the concert. FNB employees were invited to a meet and greet with the entertainer for the night, Keith Anderson! On May 19, 2018, FNB employees, Doug Vanderlaan and Brenda Martin, represented FNB at the opening day for the Morrison Farmers Market. Doug and Brenda handed out FNB reusable bags to market patrons. The Farmers Market is a highlight in the community and FNB is happy to donate bags as well as sponsor the evening Farmers Market in July.
On June 2, 2018, FNB’s Investing in a Cure team participated in the Whiteside County Relay for Life. Walking for FNB were Amanda Geuns, Kristi and Andy Bass, Joanne Olson, Joan McCowan, and Meri and Nicole Hammer. The team raised over $1,600 this year. A quilt made by Kristi Bass’ mom, Nina Holloway, was raffled off and raised over $600. Joanne Olson also made a quilt for the silent auction and Kristi’s sister-in-law, Regina Holloway, cross-stitched a beautiful cancer awareness sampler picture for the silent auction. Excellent job team!
The Farmers National Bank 115th Anniversary float was well-represented at the Christmas parades in Prophetstown, Morrison and Geneseo. On November 25th, several employees and some of their families represented the bank in the Prophetstown parade. Those attending had a good time throwing candy to the many children waiting anxiously. The following week, Morrison held their Hometown Holiday celebration. Again, the bank was well-represented and those attending could not have asked for better weather. It was a beautiful evening. Geneseo wrapped up the parade festivities with several employees and family representing the bank in their parade on December 9th.
FNB hosted “Family Night Basketball” at the Morrison vs. Prophetstown high school contests this winter. At the girls’ game on Friday, December 1st, students were admitted free to the game while all fans enjoyed popcorn, raffles for decorated cookie trays and a “Chuck-a-Puck” contest. The boys’ game on Friday, December 8th, was held in Prophetstown. Everyone again was treated to popcorn, students entered free of charge, some lucky fans earned cash and gift cards in the “Chuck-a-Buck” contest while 2 sweet fans took home a delicious cake. Each year, FNB has a team that participates in the Whiteside County Relay for Life. In October 2017, the team started selling tickets to raffle this cancer awareness quilt that was handmade and donated by Nina Holloway, FNB Morrison Employee Kristi Bass’ mother. The team was able to raise $605. The winner of the quilt was Bonnie Seilhymer from Prophetstown. Kristi and her mom plan to make this raffle an annual event to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
FNB held an employee pumpkin decorating contest in October 2017 as one of our monthly events to celebrate our 115th anniversary. Employees volunteered to decorate a pumpkin and the employee with the most votes from customers selected a charity/organization of their choice to receive a $115 donation.
Brenda Martin was the winner from our Morrison Office. Brenda selected Happy Tails Humane Society to receive $115.
On July 26, 2017, FNB sponsored all the booths at the Morrison Farmer’s Market evening event for the fourth year in a row. Free candy bars were handed out to market goers. Morrison FNB employees Ashley Bruins, Marlo Pape, Angie Erickson, Doug Vanderlaan, Brenda Martin and Kristi Bass were in attendance to support the event.
On Friday, August 25, 2017 all three FNB Offices held a grab and go customer appreciation lunch in celebration of FNB’s 115th anniversary. In Morrison, Fulton Meat Market grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. Nearly 350 customers were served a free lunch by FNB employees with some help from family members.
On December 9, 2016 FNB sponsored the student admission and Chuck-a-Truck contest at the Morrison vs. Prophetstown High School boys basketball game. Free popcorn courtesy of FNB was also handed out. Doug Vanderlaan, Glenda Deter and Tani Bauer volunteered at the game.

On August 18, 2015, FNB held its customer appreciation event at the Whiteside County Fair. Despite the rain, FNB welcomed nearly 600 guests to the event. Guests were provided free admission to the fair for all day and then enjoyed food cooked by the Whiteside County Cattleman’s Association and ice cream served by the Whiteside County Farm Bureau from 5 PM – 7 PM.
On July 29, 2015, FNB sponsored all the booths at the Morrison Farmer’s Market evening event. Morrison FNB employees Angie Erickson, Brenda Martin, Marlo Pape, and Jim Thicksten who were in attendance at the event handed out Dairy Queen® blizzards to the market patrons.
