Community Involvement

Farmers National Bank is proud to support the organizations working to strengthen our communities. Through the efforts of our enthusiastic team member-volunteers and our contributions, we share our success within our communities by giving back to non-profits and educational institutions that address vital community needs and issues.

    Pat’s Table

On Monday, December 18th staff members of FNB provided service to the community ministry called Pat’s Table. The mission of Pat’s Table is “To Serve a Meal to Nourish Both Body and Soul in a Kind and Compassionate Way”. The ministry, which is operated through the Prophetstown United Methodist Church, was founded in 2013 in memory of Pat Stewart, and since that time, over 21,500 have been served! Our staff donated salads to be served with the Christmas meal and, assisted kitchen volunteers with serving the meal and cleaning up the kitchen afterwards.

On Friday, December 15th, the Deer Valley Golf Course in Deer Grove, Illinois was the site for a “Farmer Update Meeting” featuring Congresswoman Cheri Bustos. FNB was one of the co-sponsors of this event.  Local farmers that attended heard Congresswoman Bustos speak on the 2018 Farm Bill, and a Q&A session on “Everything Ag.” Garett Plumley represented FNB on the Q&A panel and did a fantastic job.

Farmers National Bank 115th Anniversary Float

The Farmers National Bank 115th Anniversary float was well-represented at the Christmas parades in Prophetstown, Morrison and Geneseo. On November 25th, several employees and some of their families represented the bank in the Prophetstown parade. Those attending had a good time throwing candy to the many children waiting anxiously. In addition to the presence in the parade, the Prophetstown Office hosts a hospitality booth during their holiday celebration. We hand out hot chocolate and cookies that are baked and donated by FNB employees then the Bank in turn makes a monetary donation to the FNB Investing in a Cure Relay for Life team for the cookies. In 2017, 42 dozen (that’s 504) cookies were served to parade goers along with 325 cups of hot chocolate!

FNB hosted “Family Night Basketball” at the Morrison vs. Prophetstown high school contests this winter.  At the girls’ game on Friday, December 1st, students were admitted free to the game while all fans enjoyed popcorn, raffles for decorated cookie trays and a “Chuck-a-Puck” contest.  The boys’ game on Friday, December 8th, was held in Prophetstown. Everyone again was treated to popcorn, students entered free of charge, some lucky fans earned cash and gift cards in the “Chuck-a-Buck” contest while 2 sweet fans took home a delicious cake.  Thanks to all who came out to cheer on our student athletes and enjoy the fun!  (Pictured are cakes baked by Barb Hamstra of Prophetstown.)

    Whiteside County Relay for Life

Each year, FNB has a team that participates in the Whiteside County Relay for Life. In October 2017, the team started selling tickets to raffle this cancer awareness quilt that was handmade and donated by Nina Holloway, FNB Morrison Employee Kristi Bass’ mother. The team was able to raise $605. The winner of the quilt was Bonnie Seilhymer from Prophetstown. Kristi and her mom plan to make this raffle an annual event to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
